28 Weeks

I can't believe that I have still have 12 weeks to go. I am so uncomfortable already and it really sucks knowing it's just going to get worse.

Here are all the things I used to be able to do & took for granted.

I used to sleep through the night... now I'm up 3-6 times during the night.

I used to be able to bend over without grunting... now I grunt going down and coming back up.

I used to be able to get in and out of bed easily... now I have a foot stool to help me up and down. My bed has never seemed like it was tall until about 2 weeks ago.

I used to be able to sleep with 2 pillows... now I use 5 and sometimes I wish I had an extra.

I used to be able to go hours without peeing... now I go at least once an hour. (Do you realize that's like 24 times a day?)

I used to wear shirts that fit loosely... now everything is so tight.

I used to be a pretty tough cookie... now if you look at me wrong, it's very possible that I will start crying uncontrollably.

Don't get me wrong, I am so excited to be a mom, but the last couple weeks have been rough. I can't fathom being pregnant for almost 3 more months and even worse, getting bigger and bigger over those 3 months.

The baby has REALLY started moving over the last couple weeks and I love feeling her inside me, it's weird and amazing at the same time. Curtis felt her for the first time on Fathers Day. We were having breakfast with his mom and step-dad and she was doing cartwheels in my belly, I had Curtis put his hand right above my belly button and as soon as he did she moved. I love the fact that the first time that he felt her was father's day! No one else has been able to feel her, she's a little shy.

Tomorrow is my last monthly appt, now I will start going to the doc every 2 weeks. Were finally at the final countdown!!

I know this picture is gross cause my mirror is really dirty, but here is the little lady...

21 1/2 weeks

Saturday marked the 21st week mark of my pregnancy... I'm more than halfway done! HOORAY!

We found out a couple weeks ago that we will be welcoming a baby girl into the world in September... I was really holding out for a boy and so was Curtis, but I'm sure a girl will be great! We havent settled on any names yet, but we've got 4 months to figure it out... no need to rush.

I am excited to get painting and putting together the nursery & will start next weekend with pink paint, once I get paint on the walls, I'll decide if I want to do a theme!

I've been feeling great, nothing too bad to complain about. My back hurts most of the time, but not too bad that I can't deal with it.

I've just started feeling some type of movement. I don't feel it everday so it was hard for me to determine what it was that I was actually feeling but I now know it's the baby! Such a strange sensation and so weird to think that there is a person moving inside of me. I love it!!

Nothing else too exciting right now. I'll post pictures of the room in the next couple of weeks.

The Lion King

So I went to Lansing Thursday to see The Lion King Musical. YOU HAVE TO SEE IT!!
I wasn't exactly sure what to expect, but it was totally amazing! The music was great, the costumes were beautiful, the dancing was wonderful, and the stage props were incredible.
If I could go back every night and see it, I would. Even if I had to make the 3 hour trip daily, it would be worth it.
I wasn't able to take pictures there, which sucks, but I'll always have the memories. I am posting some pictures that I found online, apparently someone was allowed to take pictures. Enjoy... and if you have a chance, get yourself some tickets and go see it. You can even invite me, I'll go with you!!

The waiting game

Here is how the last couple weeks break down for me...
~ I've been feeling great, other than 2 days last week when I had some sciatic nerve issues, but with the help of my husband and chiropractor, I've gotten through them.
~ We got the crib and changing table put together. We could have left them in the box for another 6 months, but it was way more fun to see them put together. Every time I walk by the spare room/nursery it makes me smile to see them.
~ Curtis loves to touch my tummy (which I hate) This morning at 4:45 when I got up to go potty he touched my belly and said "11 weeks now, right?" I was too sleepy to tell him that tomorrow will be 11 weeks, close enough babe. He is going to be such a good daddy, I cannot wait until the day I get to see Curtis hold our son or daughter.
~ I pee ALL the time. I had a UTI a couple weeks ago which I thought was the reason that it was happening, but after a week of antibiotics I still tinkle constantly. Anyone else go through this so early in their pregnancy? I get up every hour to 2 hours at night to go. So annoying.

Okay, so Everyone keeps saying to me "enjoy your pregnancy, it goes by so fast" I think they're all full of crap... I feel like time is dragging on and on. I want to meet this little person inside me, but I can't for 29 more weeks, ugh.
The Dr. gave us a due date of Sept. 26th - when I count it back that would mean a conception date of January 4th, IMPOSSIBLE, I took a positive pregnancy test on January 10th. I think he's got my due date at least a week late, if not 2. Oh well, what can you do, I'm scared to death that I'm going to have to deliver a 10# baby because the doctor was wrong.
All I know is I'm so excited, but at this point all I can do is wait. Ugh.

Pregnancy, what a pain...

sci·at·i·ca
Pronunciation: \sī-a-ti-ka\
Function: noun
: pain along the course of a sciatic nerve especially in the back of the thigh ; broadly : pain in the lower back, buttocks, hips, or adjacent parts

What this means to me - PAIN, IN THE BUTT! Literally.

About 2 weeks ago we were at the in-laws house having dinner & I told Curtis that it felt like I had a charlie horse on my right "cheek". He didn't think much of it and I didn't either... I went on my merry way and didn't really think about it much. The next week I started noticing it again, it wasn't a horrible pain, just annoying.

Then Monday it got bad... REALLY BAD! Curtis was massaging my butt because it was really hurting me. He used the massager for about 5 minutes - when he was done I thought I would get up and walk it off... WRONG. I couldn't get off the bed, the pain in my butt was shooting down my leg... it hurt so bad I literally could not move. I tried to crawl off the bed and ended up face planting on my pillow. I laid in bed for about 5 minutes before calling my mom to ask her what to do. She said to put heat on it, then cold. I did, but it didn't help.

I couldn't walk - Curtis had to drag me. He put me in the bath-tub and then had to pull me out when I couldn't get out on my own. He basically carried me to the bathroom when I had to go.

I couldn't sit comfortably -

I couldn't stand comfortably -

I just had to stay pefectly still -

I couldn't do anything with this shooting pain. It was by far the worst pain I have ever experienced (I'm sure in 7 months I'll change my mind, but to date this was the worst)

The pain lasted about 4 hours and then started to go away. It was back to that charlie horse feeling in my cheek, I survived.

The next morning I got up and went to work, I felt fine until around 1:30 when it started to come back. I went home, laid down and tried not to move a muscle. This time it lasted about 3 hours and then started to feel better again.

I decided to call the Chiropractor & was able to go in Wednesday, she stretched my muscles back there and adjusted me - As of today I've been 2.5 days without an "episode" and am hoping it will stay that way.

Anyone ever dealt with this? If this is any indicator of the next 7 months of my pregnancy, I can assure you that the next baby I have will be adopted.

Ugh.

It's a baby!

Curtis and I had our first ultrasound today! We are excited to share with the world that we are expecting baby numero uno!

We've known that I am pregnant for about 4 weeks, but wanted to get through this first appointment before spreading the news.

The appointment was super long... like 2.5 hours, but it was all worth it. We met with the nurse and went over all the pregnancy stuff. Then we went in to meet the doctor and have an ultrasound. He had an intern that he was working with so we had a small party in the u/s room. They put the machine in my "you know what" and went to town. We saw the baby (2 arms, 2 legs and a head, phew) saw and heard the heartbeat (which was 175 bpm) and even saw the baby move.

The baby is only about an inch long but can already move, so strange.

Since the intern was there they decided to have a look around so he could see some other stuff. They found ovaries, found the umbilical cord, saw the placenta, and some other stuff that they both found interesting, but didn't really mean anything to me. So then they kept probing around and found 3 more eggs (eggs that didn't fertilize) They looked like black balls. I didn't ask what happened to those eggs, but I should have. Do they just go away? Do I pass them? Where do they go? That was really weird, but fun to see. Most women don't get to see those things.

I had some blood drawn and we finally went our merry way!

What a miracle it was. I'm so glad that Curtis was able to take the day off from work, hearing our tiny baby's heart beat was AMAZING and I wouldn't have wanted him to miss it!!

So that's that, were going to parents and were so happy!

Oh... here's a picture of baby Moore. Cute huh?
